I have sentimental attachment -- that may reflect itself in price. This was a painting for my late aunt Florence who helped with encouragement and if needed money. This was the year before my draft # would come up, so we decided to make that best out of that year as I tried to soak all I could learn like a sponge in my one year at Wonderful Montserrat Academy. I registered but the draft ended on that yr. Didn't get a number. I did know that I couldn't count on generousity, so I went to school and usually keeping sketch book and a collection of acrylics with me. --Had a series of health problems, originating in cancer (now cured) but the treatment was old fashioned and brutal.
I don't think I really tried to get back in art thru the worst of it. Completed School, worked in Health Care 30 yrs, but always new that I would have to return to art to reclaim a core part of my life. Ironically my wife at the time went out and bought me supplies--as much to keep me from building hare-brained schemes in the back yard. -- It worked in hobby and vocation. SP I resumed painting in my late 40's
Painting isn't all fun. Some times it's mechanically painting thru deep depression-hope those come out with passion. but sometimes just gloom. Many times things just don't go right. I have forgotten, my paints a couple time and my brushes . Somedays I cant imagine doing anything else. I paint outdoor 90& looking forward rehabbing a 1/2 decent studio to even things out.
Maybe looking a that painting is the key inspiration. Done innocently with little training seeing no future until I knew what would happen when I got my draft number. I really consider this my favorite painting.
